Biggest Sporting spectacle on South African soil

The biggest sporting extravaganza is all set to take off in a weeks time from now. Without doubt this will be the biggest event hosted by South Africa on its soil. The even not only has one of the highest viewerships among all sports events but also is one of the most popular sports in the world.

It's success is critical for South Africa as a rainbow nation trying to prove to the world that it will succeed as a unified nation. The planning, organising, the scheduling, logistics and most importantly the security need to be spot on for it to succeed as an international tournament. It is the Football World Cup 2010 after all. After that it is up to the footballers to make it a big success.

The South Africans have shown that they have the know how and the will to succeed as they have earlier hosted the T20 world cup, the cricket world cup and earlier a rugby world cup. SO they have the know how and the experience to pull of this feat.

And presiding over this mega event will be the South African President Jacob Zuma. I will be keen to watch him as he takes centre stage along with his mutiple wives. The keenness is to see his latest and youngest wife who is at the center of a scandal where it is alleged that the latest baby she is carrying has been fathered by her bodyguard- who then later committed suicide. Really interesting life for a head of state I would say right? Closest to such an eventful life would be French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

Update: 5th August, 2015

So the world cup is gone and it was a success. So has the next world cup in Brazil and I loved it because my favorite Germans won. Viva la Football. Waiting anxiously for the next set of super stars.

If u want latest English Premier Updates you can check out this website. I would love if you give me some feedback on my attempt to put togther great images from the world of football. Mwahhhh!!!

Injuries to dampen Football WC?

The injuries are coming thick and fast and they are making the National fans yelp with agony. THe more disturbing factor for me is that it robbing the World cup of some serious talent. The first and the biggest shock was Germany's playmaker captain - Michael Ballack. He is an experinced capmaigner and was a central figure for their teams hopes.

Now add England Captain Rio Ferdinand to the list and it gets grimmer. The Defender was selected after John Terry lost the coveted armband after his bedroom antics. Now losing a captain just on the eve of a tournament is a hard blow to take.

Well, the bad news is till coming - Star attacker and lynch pin of the Ivory Coast - Didier Drogba has picked up a fore arm fracture. Only saving garace is there are slim chances that he may recover in time for the WC. And the latest news coming in says his operation has gone off well and he might be actually fit in time for the world cup.

One more injury really dismayed me is the one to Dutch winger Arjen Robben. He is such a brilliant payer that I feel it will hurt his team the most - especially when they are looking good for a decent showing at the Football World cup 2010.

Lets hope we are not hit by any more injuries and the Football World cup gets underway without any more bad news.

One positive could be that this could be the stage for new stars to shine on the world stage - is it time for new Roger Milla's, Messi' and the like to be discovered.

The ball is in your court

The new balls for the Football World Cup 2010 have come under a lot of flak from all the footballers. Some say they are inconsistent, they swerve, and all sorts of angry reasons.

Also this time even the attackers are complaining - usually it is only the Goalkeepers. They say they kick in one direction, it goes in another. Believable?? You better believe it. Maybe it will result in more gaols at the World cup. Hehe hehehe h

Anyway, her eis a small update. Check out these incredible jewellery designs at Issuu.com.

England World cup winners????

Well well well. That will be the day na?? When the country that boasts of one of the most popular and competitive Football leagues will actually go on and win the cup. They have always had the fire power, the players and the pedigree - but have always fallen embarrassingly short (cept of course the one time in the uhhhh 60's ????).

Anyway, I am writing in regards the report by a leading Consulting firm (are they trusted any more after the numerous scams they seem to be involved in with unfailing regularity??) that England seemed very likely to win the Football World Cup 2010!!!! Shocking, but yes according to the Consulting co. it is mostly likely to happen this year.

To be honest, I always had a soft corner for England as they do have a lot of talented (overpaid??) players - maybe over hyped and also hugely great page 3 material. I know more players form the English team than any other country thanks to the EPL (English Premier League) - Lampard, Gerrard, John Terry (Page 3, def Page 3 heh eheheh), Joe Cole (is he in?), Crouch, and Wayne Rooneyyyyyyyyyyy. :-)

Long live the Queen!!!
